Clear Coat Flat is perfect to keep a flat, chalky finish, but add extra protection and durability to your piece.
Although Dixie Belle paints do not require a wax or top coat, some pieces may be subject to more wear and tear than usual - Clear Coat is the perfect protection here.
Ensure that your piece is completely dry before applying Clear Coat (we recommend leaving 1-2 hours), and then use a damp brush to apply a thin, even layer of Clear Coat. Do not work the product, simply apply one stroke then move on to the next section. After an hour this should be dry, and you can apply a second coat to ensure an even coverage.
CLEANING
Remember to wash your brushes in warm, soapy water after use.
This is a water resistant product and you will be able to clean your product using non-abrasive cleaner after 7 days.
BLEED THROUGH
Sometimes your piece may be subject to yellowish stains known as ‘bleed through’ amongst furniture painters. Do not panic, this is simply a stain or nicotine than have been absorbed into the piece over time. A way to compat this is by painting your piece in clear coat BEFORE applying the paint. This will then block the stain from coming through again as your piece is now sealed. After applying this, you can re-apply your desired paint.

Dixie Belle is a US-based, non-toxic chalk mineral paint with a choice of 69 beautiful colours to suit all of your needs. The paints contain no VOC's and are easy to use as they require no priming, top coat or wax - everything you need is in the pot!
An 8 oz pot covers 3.5 sq m, a 16 oz pot covers double this - the majority of projects will require one or two coats for full coverage. Dixie Belle Paint is a thick paint that goes a long way. Occasionally you will see brushstrokes whilst painting, but these will disappear as the paint dries as Dixie Belle is a self leveling paint.
